Damaging Negative Stories
null

This is an industry where negative perceptions, stereotyping, and ugly stories have damaged the reputation of truck drivers and contributed to a massive problem in recruiting new people into the industry.

The most damaging negative stories are:

  • Truck drivers are dirty, overweight and lack personal hygiene.
  • Truck drivers do not respect the road or other drivers.
  • It is an industry only for men.
  • Truck drivers are uneducated and not knowledgeable.
  • Truck drivers are at the lower end of the socioeconomic bracket
  • Truck drivers are foul mouthed and involved in illicit behavior.

While some of these stereotypes may be true, the fact remains that many of those truck drivers are honest, committed, hard working individuals who care about their own and other people’s safety.  They are also family orientated who care and look after their families.

Unfortunately due to movies and the media, the public image has seriously damaged the reputation and image of truck drivers.
